You can use the same recipe cooking on the stovetop, just cook the sugar, butter, and milk at a rolling boil for 4-5 minutes.
Ingredients from the original Fantasy Fudge Recipe:
- 3 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 small can or 2/3 cup evaporated milk
- 12 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 small jar of marshmallow cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Microwave on high about 4 minutes (depending on microwave wattage) until the mixture begins to boil.
Microwave another 4 minutes.
At this point, if you plan to use some or all of the fudge in recipes as toppings or fillings, work quickly before it begins to set.
This would also be the time to stir in additives like pecans, dried fruit, or alcoholic additions like peppermint schnapps.
Pour into a greased pan (roughly 8 x 10) and spread until smooth.
Set aside until cool, then cut into squares and refrigerate.
TIP: because the fudge sets up rather quickly, have all your additions ready to go before the sugar and butter mixture is cooked. Open the chocolate chips; open the jar of marshmallow cream, and pre-measure the vanilla. Also be sure to have your whisk or mixer ready to go.
